True Companionship
Sitting with the Lord…
Sitting with the Lord this morning in gratitude for companionship. I realized how many ways the Lord has brought companionship to my life. First and foremost, I’ve experienced the companionship of the Holy Spirit more intimately than ever before. In my combined role of wife/caregiver there has been an inevitable void in the dynamics of our relationship. The Holy Spirit has filled that void providing companionship when I’ve fretted, cried, been anxious, needed to make decisions, etc. Just a constant Source of strength and comfort that is ever present. I’ve relied on Him like I would’ve relied on my love in a lot of ways. Then there’s the companionship of family. I’ve always known we both have wonderful families but they’ve stepped up phenomenally. They’ve anticipated our needs without us asking. They’ve carried the load in every way possible by their presence, phone calls, financial resources, daily needs, acts of kindness, help around the house, yardwork, caregiver, etc. You name it they’ve been there! Siblings, In-laws children, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, etc. everyone providing companionship.
Then there’s our inner circle of friends. We typically don’t travel in large circles. We have a small group of friends that have our trust and whom we consider like family since our families are far away. These friends have dropped what they are doing at a moment’s notice to be by our side to attend to our needs. Or just to be there sitting closely by, providing comforting words, prayer, encouragement, hugs, kisses, and a listening ear. Their companionship has been priceless. Then there’s our larger circle of friends some close some distant who send cards, texts, gift cards, door dash meals, or drop by with random items to meet our daily needs. Our adopted kids who call us Pops and MamaMichele who FaceTime us and make us laugh or call to express how we’ve impacted their lives! Our long time friends who travel miles to come see us and do whatever is needed.
Last but not least our work families! They are our extended family whom we’ve spent most of our time with over the years, 40 – 60 hours a week. They have come through in countless ways with catered meals, lunch, household products, Grubhub funds, calls, texts, yardwork, errands, late night sitting relief, etc. Oh and let’s not forget my FB family who have reached out and sent well wishes.
God has shown us what true companionship looks like and it comes in supernatural and tangible ways that have forever impacted our lives.
The prayers that have gone up for us through our network of family and friends is expansive. I’m sure the Lord has heard our names before the throne 24/7. And He keeps on proving Himself strong on our behalf. Our medical team has been amazed over and over again at the wonder, signs and miracles God has wrought before our eyes. Holy Spirit thank you for letting us see with our spiritual eyes and experience in the earthly realm what true companionship means. We are amazed, humbled and grateful! Our prayers are with you and we thank God for you!
Sharing my morning musings in hopes it will open our eyes to all the ways we have companionship in our lives. Give thanks! 09/26/2019
