Don’t Put It Off…Celebrate Now!
Sitting with the Lord this morning
and talking to Him about celebration. The Holy Spirit brought celebration to my attention when I was listening to a counselor online last night. So I’ve been reading the book of Luke this month about the Christmas story. Something that we did as a tradition on Christmas morning was read about the birth of Jesus in the first couple of chapters. So after listening to the counselor, I was thinking about celebration in my sitting with the Lord time. Holy Spirit reminding me how celebration is woven into Christ’s story from even before he was born. Like when Mary went to see her cousin Elizabeth and how Elizabeth broke out into excitement about Mary’s child to the point that her own baby leaped in her womb. How Mary then erupted into a celebratory litany of praise and celebration. And like when the angels appeared to the shepherds and a whole multitude of angels and heavenly hosts broke out into celebratory praise about the coming birth of the Savior. How the shepherds went to see Him and left praising God in celebration of Christ’s birth. And like when his parents presented him in the temple, both Simeon and Anna celebrated God’s favor for his people by sending the Savior. Lots of celebration woven into the Christmas story. I know Christmas time was certainly a celebration in my family of origin. I remember the Christmas church plays and the family traditions of gathering together to celebrate. Such a happy time! So what I’m hearing from the Holy Spirit is how much emphasis God places on celebration. Celebration is good for the soul! Laughter is like good medicine! For those who are grieving or having a difficult time this year, it might be hard to celebrate this season, but if there is anyway, we can muster up a praise or a hallelujah, then celebrate! I have my moments when I’m not feeling it but anyone who knows me will tell you, I like to celebrate. Don’t need too much of a reason to party! Sometimes when I’m dancing around here with my dogs, they know to join in or move out the way! Cause here I come singing loud and all up in their face trying to get them excited! Twinkle Bell will start out jumping up then when it gets too lively she will go sit on the chair from a distance as if to say, My human is too much! Queenie will jump on her hind legs and try to hang with me then she’ll run get her toy as if to say throw it and I’ll fetch. That’s how she celebrates! The Holy Spirit is impressing on me to celebrate when I can. The counselor was talking about celebration and she said,
“Don’t put off your satisfaction for the future. Celebrate the smallest of things now.”
In my words, don’t wait around for something that we deem as a huge win to celebrate. There are small wins everyday that we can celebrate. Celebration is good for the soul. Celebration is ordained by God as He made evident by surrounding the birth of His Son Jesus with celebration. I believe Heaven is one big celebration! I’m hyping myself up to celebrate, because holidays are so different now. Not in my comfort zone around the holidays. But guess what I have some sparkling grape juice on hand and a glass with a leg on it and I am celebrating! When I think about the life giving blood of Jesus. When I think about how I once was lost but now I’m found. When I think about the peace that I have on the inside that overrides this chaotic world. When I think about the joy down in my soul that overcomes moments of sadness. When I think about God’s favor, provision and blessing over the years. When I think about how I almost didn’t make it, but here I am. alive and telling the story of the Savior’s love! It makes me want to shout! Kick my heels up and shout! Alexa play Shout by the Temptations time to get my party on! LOL!
Sharing my morning musings…Get your party on! Celebrate our Savior’s birth! Celebrate every small win! Celebrating is anointed!
