My Unturned Ankles

You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn. — Psalm 18:36

Sitting with the Lord and meditating on this concept of God broadening our paths. Thinking about the man made broad path as opposed to the God made broad path. The Bible says that the gate to the man made path is wide and the path is broad, many are on that road. The gate to the God made path is narrow and the path is long, few can even find the gate. So David introduces this concept about the God made path and that is, that God will broaden the path so that our ankles will not turn. Not only will He make the path wider but safer for us. He will protect us when we make a missstep. This is a revelation about grace for me this morning. Two people in the Bible that definitely walked the path of grace would be David & Paul. Both committed what society would term as egregious sins and mistakes yet both forged such intimate relationships with God until their stories are extreme examples of God’s grace. In fact, this whole Psalm is about God coming to David’s rescue. I mean that’s a pretty powerful illustration that David describes. He will not only broaden our paths but He will protect us from the missteps. I’ve had an injured ankle before. It’s a miserable experience and one that can stop any progress you’ve made on any given day. As I get older, a good day on my my ankles, knees and feet is a most valued experience. Which makes this revelation even more personal. God has broadened my path many times over the years and kept my ankles from turning. I know what the ancestors meant when they testified that He made a way out of no way and He brought me out of the wilderness. If it had not been for the Lord on my side, tell me where would I be. Where would I be?! I’m grateful for my continued broadened path and my unturned ankles this morning. I feel like running on and seeing what the end’s gonna be! God is worthy to be praised! Amen and amen again!

Just sharing my morning musings in hopes that we will be reminded of God’s grace that broadens our paths and strengthens our steps.
